Probationary ASPs of 52nd common visit CPO

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) Probationary Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the 52nd Common batch visited the Central Police Office (CPO), where they met Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar.

Additional IG Crime Control Department (CCD) Sohail Zafar Chattha, DIG CCD Umar Farooq Salamat, and other senior officers were also present.

Speaking to the visiting officers, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that maintaining law and order and delivering efficient public service are the department’s foremost priorities. He noted that combating terrorism and organized crime remains one of the most pressing challenges. He added that the CCD, in close coordination with district police and other operational wings, is effectively achieving its crime-reduction goals through integrated strategies and joint action plans. He further remarked that since the establishment of the CCD, a significant decline in crime rates has been observed in Lahore and across the province.

Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha gave a comprehensive briefing to the ASPs, outlining the department’s objectives, human resource framework, operational strategies, and major accomplishments. He described the CCD as a specialized unit comprising highly trained and experienced officers, fully dedicated to crime prevention and investigation. He said that under the “Safe Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the CCD is playing a crucial role in tackling serious and organized crime.

The CCD has been equipped with a centralized criminal database, modern surveillance tools, and advanced technology to support operations. He emphasized that strict crackdowns on habitual offenders involved in dacoities, street crimes, and narcotics trafficking remain a top priority. The department is also actively targeting heinous crimes such as murder and rape during robberies, extortion, vehicle theft, and the dismantling of interprovincial criminal networks.
