Rivers Indus, Kabul Run In Low Flood

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st August, 2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said River Indus in "Kalabagh-Chashma" Reach and River Kabul at Warsak are flowing in Low Flood.
According to daily FFC report, all other main rivers including Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1520.30 feet and 1233.65 feet respectively, which are 29.70 feet & 8.35 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 11.656 MAF as compared to last year's 13.180 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave over Northern parts of the country lies over Kashmir and adjoining areas.
Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan. Weak moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 3000 feet.
A monsoon low has developed over North Bay of Bengal.
As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers including North & Northeastern Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions) and D.G.
Khan, besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar, Kohat & D.I. Khan Divisions) and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours. Low to Medium Flood is expected in Hill Torrents of D.G. Khan Division during the same period.
All concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT, watch the situation closely and take all necessary precautionary measures in order to avoid loss of human lives and damage to private and public property. No Significant rainfall event has been reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours, except Mandibahauddin = 12 mm.
