LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jul, 2025) The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 across the province till 30th August in response to the ongoing monsoon rains, rising water levels and potential flooding.
According to an official notification, all forms of swimming and boating have been banned in rivers, dams, canals, ponds and lakes with immediate effect. The ban also extends to bathing in rainwater accumulated in streets, roads, open areas, and public places.
The spokesperson noted that due to heavy rainfall, water levels in natural and man-made water bodies have risen significantly, increasing the risk of drowning incidents.
Bathing in stagnant rainwater, especially by children and youth, also poses serious health and safety hazards.
District administrations and law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order. Public awareness campaigns are also being initiated to inform citizens about the enforcement of Section 144, the spokesperson added.
