Maldives Visa Types

Meeting Visa

Maldives offers a 14-day on-arrival meeting visa to any foreign national satisfying Maldives entry requirements, including Pakistanis, visiting Maldives to attend a meeting, conference, or convention in Maldives. It is a non-extendable visa and the visa holder is ineligible to get a business visa during their stay in Maldives.

A comprehensive travel plan with confirmed tickets, paid accommodation, and proof of financial support does not guarantee your entry to Maldives. The entrance to the Maldives is permitted at the port of entry by the immigration officer's eligibility determination according to Sections 7 and 8 of The Maldives Immigration Act 2007.

Entry Requirements with Maldives Meeting Visa

The following are the requirements for visiting Maldives via a meeting visa.

• The primary purpose of your visit should be to attend a meeting, convention, or conference in Maldives for Registrar of Business permissible businesses/ to participate in a state-use Maldives Government meeting/ to participate in a meeting, convention, or conference arranged by other entities with approval from concerned government authority.
• Complete travel itinerary, confirmed return tickets, confirmed and prepaid hotel booking at a registered hotel, and proof of sufficient funds to support your stay in Maldives.
• Travel declaration filled and submitted via IMUGA within 96 hours of the flight time to Maldives.
• A Machine Readable Zone passport or travel document with at minimum one-month validity.
• Entry requirements to the onward destination with visa and passport validity.

Work Visa

The Maldives permits foreigners, including Pakistanis, to stay in the Maldives for employment with a work visa. It allows 15 days from the arrival date as a pre-period for the person traveling to Maldives. This visa is issued to the person possessing a valid work permit of 90 days from the Ministry of Economic Development. The person should present the same passport with the work permit on arrival to get the work visa.

A person with a work permit can re-enter Maldives without getting a visa if the work permit is valid. The work permit holder can exit and enter the Maldives before obtaining a visa if the work permit is valid. However, if the person does not get the visa, he/she can be penalized under the Immigration Act 1/2007 which can result in deportation from Maldives for overstay.

A marriage visa permits a foreign national, including Pakistanis, married to a Maldivian national to stay in the Maldives. However, a foreigner traveling to Maldives to marry a Maldivian national or a foreigner already married to a Maldivian national traveling to Maldives to register the marriage in Maldives should be sponsored before arrival. The sponsorship declaration is submitted online via IMUGA.

The foreigner traveling to Maldives on a marriage visa should complete the legal marriage process and apply for the marriage within the given period after arrival. A visa transfer is necessary for a marriage visa if the foreigner is already in Maldives and the legal marriage registration procedure is complete.

Marriage visa applications must be filled and submitted via IMUGA. The applicant is notified via text message when the application is processed and is issued with an appointment to submit the passport for the visa. The charges for the visa card are MVR 50.
