
MNFSR Announces Clear Decision Regarding Sugar Pricing

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2025) The Ministry of National food Security & Research (MNFSR) on Wednesday clarified that the meeting, chaired by the Minister for National Food Security & Research Rana Tanveer Hussain led to a clear and firm decision regarding sugar pricing as the ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs 165 per kilogram, while the retail price shall not exceed Rs 173 to Rs 175 per kilogram.
In a press statement, the ministry rejected the reports circulating in the section of press, which claimed that meeting between Ministry of National Food Security and Research and the sugar mill association remained inconclusive.
It said that the meeting led to a clear and firm decision regarding sugar pricing as the ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs165 per kilogram, while the retail price shall not exceed Rs 173 to Rs 175 per kilogram.
It further said that a formal notification regarding the retail price is being finalized and will be issued following approval from the Federal Cabinet.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized that all provincial governments will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the approved retail price to provide relief to consumers and maintain price stability across the country.
The ministry remains committed to safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring transparent, fair market practices through continued engagement with relevant stakeholders.
