
Agriculture Dept Bans Harmful Pesticides For Paddy Crop

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2025) The Department of Agriculture (Plant Protection) has issued strict instructions to all shopkeepers and dealers involved in the business of pesticides to immediately stop the sale of prohibited pesticides for the paddy crop.
In this regard, Director Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides Sialkot Dr. Maqsood Ahmed told APP that the department has made it clear that the prohibited pesticides should either be removed from the stock immediately or they should be returned to the company.
He said that legal action will be taken in case of violation of the orders.
All pesticide dealers should prominently display the new advisory issued by the department, which contains the list of prohibited poisons, he added.
Dr. Maqsood Ahmed said that the step is being taken keeping in mind the interests of farmers, human health, and protection of the environment so that use of substandard fertilizers and pesticides can be avoided.
He said that in case of violation of the rules and regulations, not only legal action will be taken against dealers but their licenses can also be suspended or cancelled.
