Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr. announces formation of new political party

Bhutto Jr. while addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club says new party’s formal launch will be announced soon

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 12nd, 2025) Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr., grandson of former Prime Minister and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, on Saturday announced the formation of a new political party aimed at addressing the needs of the common people.

Speaking at a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, Bhutto Jr. stated that the new party’s formal launch would be announced soon.

He emphasized that the iconic PPP slogan “Roti, Kapra aur Makaan” (food, clothing, and shelter) remains relevant today, but modern times demand more. “In addition to basic needs, the people now also need electricity, gas, and water,” he said, introducing the party’s slogan: “Jiay Awam” (Long live the people).

Criticizing the current leadership of the PPP, he said, “The Zardari group has turned the slogan ‘Jiay Bhutto’ into a symbol of corruption.

” He alleged that there is a growing plan to seize agricultural lands through corporate farming, which threatens the livelihoods of local farmers.

Highlighting the importance of the agricultural sector, Bhutto Jr. said, “Farmers in Punjab are the backbone of the national economy. Where are the parties now that once stood for their rights?”

He further stated that if farmers in Sindh also raise their voices like those in Punjab, they would unite and march together towards Islamabad to demand justice and reform.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr.'s entry into the politics signals a new chapter in Pakistan’s political landscape, especially for those disillusioned with traditional political parties and their failure to deliver on basic public needs.
