AJK PM Terms Good Governance Imperative For Addressing Problems Of Masses At The Grassroots Level

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2025) Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that good governance was crucial for addressing problems the people generally faced at the grassroots level.

He expressed these views while talking to Amjad Chaudhry, president of the All Kashmir Newspapers Society, who called on him at the Jammu Kashmir House in the Federal metropolis on Saturday.

Terming public service as the sole mission of his government, the PM said that problems of the ordinary citizens were being solved on a priority basis. He said that the present government has the honor to break the decades-long "status quo" in the region, which compelled the state institutions to work on the basis of merit and transparency. He said that nobody was above the law.

"Every individual, regardless of his status or position, is accountable and answerable under law, be it a prime minister or any ordinary citizen," the PM remarked.

The Prime Minister said that the government has focused on the development of backward areas and ensured fair distribution of resources across the state.

Referring to the landmark initiatives his government has taken during the past two years, the PM said that initiatives like digitization of the Inland Revenue Department, automation of the tax system in collaboration with CBR and PRAL, and the Point of Sale (POS) system have brought transformative changes by enhancing transparency, accuracy, and swift financial management.

The PM said that the present government was committed to addressing problems faced by the media industry. "A grant of Rs. 3 million was released in two installments for the welfare of AKNS members for insurance policy, whereas a 100% increase in the Press Foundation grant is the manifestation of the government’s commitment to the development of the media," the PM added.

The PM also appreciated the responsible role of the state media. On this occasion, Amjad Chaudhry appreciated the government's media-friendly policies and merit-based governance measures. He also appreciated the steps taken by the Prime Minister for the development of the media in Azad Kashmir.
