A special court (Central) on Friday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a final opportunity to submit the challan in the money laundering case involving former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi and others, till August 18

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2025) A special court (Central) on Friday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a final opportunity to submit the challan in the money laundering case involving former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi and others, till August 18.

Judge Arif Khan Niazi presided over the hearing, during which Parvez Elahi did not appear. During the proceedings, the FIA’s counsel informed the court that the delay in filing the challan was due to a change in the investigation officer.

At this, the court expressed concern over the delay and warned that if the FIA fails to file the challan, the court would proceed to decide the acquittal request based on the arguments presented.

Parvez Elahi's counsel submitted an exemption application on his client's behalf, citing medical advice for bed rest, which the court allowed.

The court adjourned further proceedings in the case until August 18.

The FIA had filed an interim challan against Parvez Elahi and others on charges of money laundering. Meanwhile, Moonis Elahi has been declared a proclaimed offender due to his continuous absence from court proceedings.
