KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Kohat authorities have finalized a comprehensive plan for a large-scale operation against illegal Afghan refugees across the country, with significant actions scheduled for Kohat and neighboring districts following the Eid holidays.
According to a detailed report, data for approximately 4,500 migrants detained in Peshawar, Islamabad, and various parts of Punjab has already been compiled. The next phase of the operation will target 54 major markets, including Vegetable (Sabzi), Jaggery (Gur), and Fruit markets.
Authorities have sought Federal and provincial permission to cancel registrations for businesses, vehicles, and residential units owned by illegal immigrants.
A complete ban on the sale and purchase of property by these individuals is being proposed.
The first phase aims to seal 5,000 business centers and 25,000 residential units. The second phase is expected to expand to 55,000 businesses and over 100,000 residences.
While security monitoring has been tightened in sensitive areas, local social and business circles have expressed concerns regarding the potential economic impact of the scale of the operation.
