Hafiz Karim secures Senate seat from Punjab

PML-N candidate Hafiz Abdul Karim secured victory in the Senate by-election from the Punjab Assembly

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) PML-N candidate Hafiz Abdul Karim secured victory in the Senate by-election

from the Punjab Assembly.

According to unofficial results, Karim received 243 votes while opposition candidate Mehr Abdul

Sattar got 99 votes. Out of a total of 368 members, 345 cast their votes as three

ballots were rejected.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was among those who participated in the polling.

The by-election held to fill the vacant Senate seat from Punjab began at 9:00 am and continued

till 4:00pm.

The seat became vacant following the death of Professor Sajid Mir, Ameer of Markazi Jamiat

Ahle Hadith Pakistan.

In addition to Hafiz Abdul Karim and Mehr Abdul Sattar, two independent candidates, including

Khadija Siddiqui and Ijaz Hussain, were also in the race.
