The lower court of Islamabad Monday adjourned the hearing of two cases against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder and others related to the 2022 Long March without any progress
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) The lower court of Islamabad Monday adjourned the hearing of two cases against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder and others related to the 2022 Long March without any progress.
The hearing was deferred due to the absence of the PTI founder.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah was scheduled to hear two cases registered against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and his party members on charges linked to the Long March, including violation of Section 144. However, the court proceedings were postponed as the PTI founder did not appear before the court.
During the hearing, the legal team representing the PTI founder, led by Advocate Sardar Muhammad Masroof Khan and Zahid Bashir Dar, was present.
However, no arguments could be presented in court due to the absence of the main accused. The defence was also unable to argue the pending acquittal plea filed by the PTI founder.
The court adjourned the hearing on both cases until September 25, directing that the matter would be taken up again on the new date.
The Kohsar police had registered two separate cases against the PTI founder and other party members. The charges include violation of Section 144, which restricts public gatherings, along with other legal provisions, in connection with the party’s Long March activities in Islamabad.
The PTI founder’s legal team is seeking his acquittal in the cases, but proceedings have faced repeated delays due to his non-appearance.
