
Minister Inaugurates Minority Religious Sites Restoration Project

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora on Saturday inaugurated a project for the restoration, conservation and rehabilitation of minority religious sites across Punjab under a flagship programme of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Gurdwara Manke, where the minister said the Punjab government was taking practical steps to preserve the religious and cultural heritage of minority communities in the province. He said restoration and conservation work would be carried out in phases at gurdwaras, churches, temples and other minority religious buildings to ensure the protection of their historical and religious significance.
Ramesh Singh Arora said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was committed to safeguarding the rights and religious freedom of minority communities and promoting inclusive development. He added that the initiative aimed not only at preserving historic religious sites but also at strengthening interfaith harmony and tolerance in society.
The minister said the Punjab government was ensuring that minority communities had access to safe, dignified and well-maintained places for the practice of their religious beliefs, adding that historically important religious structures would be preserved for future generations under the project.
