ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jul, 2025) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the jurisdiction of Karachi Company Police Station.
An official told APP on Friday that the incident was reported on July 13, 2025, when the female victim submitted a written complaint to the Karachi Company Police, alleging that a man named Liaqat had raped her. Responding swiftly, police registered FIR No. 867 under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched a formal investigation.
He said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq took immediate notice of the serious nature of the case and issued special instructions for the arrest of the accused. A special investigation team was formed under the supervision of SSP Investigation.
He said the teams from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Karachi Company Police used scientific and technical methods to trace and arrest the suspect. The accused, Liaqat, was presented before the relevant court, and police obtained physical remand for further investigation.
He said the suspect had fled the scene after committing the crime, but the coordinated efforts of the police teams led to his arrest.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq appreciated the performance of the police teams and reiterated that crimes against women and children are intolerable. “All legal requirements will be fulfilled to ensure exemplary punishment for the accused,” he added./APP-rzr-mkz
