DHAKA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 22nd, 2025) Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in the second T20 International today, with the Green Shirts in desperate need of a victory to stay alive in the series. A loss would hand Pakistan a historic series defeat at the hands of the Bengal Tigers.
In the first match, Pakistan collapsed for just 110 runs and were handed a 7-wicket loss. After losing the toss and being sent in to bat on a challenging pitch, the Pakistani batting lineup struggled to find its footing. Only opener Fakhar Zaman showed some resistance with the bat.
The second T20 will also be played at the Shere Bangla Stadium, where Pakistan must win to level the series and avoid an embarrassing defeat. The toss is expected to be crucial again, with both teams likely to opt for bowling first.
Pakistan’s batting lineup faces a stern test in the tough playing conditions. Alongside Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris, and captain Salman Ali Agha will need to take responsibility, having failed to deliver in the first outing. Hasan Nawaz also fell without scoring, adding to the top-order woes.
Pakistan’s bowlers were unable to defend the low total and will need to step up to contain Bangladesh’s confident batting unit.
Reflecting on the first game, captain Salman Ali Agha admitted, “We couldn’t put up a good total. We had a decent start, but consecutive wickets made things difficult. We’ve analyzed our performance and aim to do better in the next match.”
Regarding the pitch, Salman said, “Whenever you come to Bangladesh, you expect these kinds of surfaces. It’s rare to find a good batting track here. We were expecting it but didn’t perform accordingly.”
He added, “When defending just 111 runs with limited time, there’s no room for mistakes. I think the bowlers did well, but it’s the batting that needs to improve in the next match.”
On the other side, Bangladesh are eyeing a series victory today and are unlikely to make any changes to their winning XI. After clinching the series against Sri Lanka and now defeating Pakistan in the opener, the Tigers are high on confidence and already have their sights set on lifting the trophy.
