President Sheikh Imtiaz submits a formal request to DC Lahore for permission to stage rally
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 22nd, 2025) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday announced plans to hold a major rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5, with an aim to mobilize public support for the release of the party’s founding leader Imran Khan.
PTI Lahore President Sheikh Imtiaz has submitted a formal request to the Deputy Commissioner Lahore for permission to stage the rally. In the request, he stated that the objective of the gathering is to raise public awareness about what the party describes as unjust detention of its leader.
The proposed rally is scheduled from 4pm to 10pm and will feature speeches by senior party leaders along with members of the Punjab Assembly.
PTI assured the authorities that the event will be peaceful and in full compliance with democratic norms.
In the application, Sheikh Imtiaz also noted that if permission is not granted for Minar-e-Pakistan, the administration should provide an alternative venue to hold the rally.
Meanwhile, PTI’s Barrister Aqeel Malik reiterated the party’s willingness to engage in political dialogue, stating that PTI is open to talks with other parties in Punjab and with the establishment at the Federal level.
