BISE AJK (Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Azad Jammu and Kashmir) began its working as a commanding body in the year 1973. The inception of the board was fundamental as there was no some other educational board in Azad Jammu Kashmir to oversee and handle the educational issues and to lead matric level exams.

AJK Board arranges the exams of those instructive institutions which are associated with AJK board in AJK and its purview territories which are Mirpur, Poonch, Kotli, Bagh, Muzaffarabad, Neelum and Bhimber.
