
Current Account Records Over $2.1b Surplus In FY 2024-25

Pakistan’s External Current Account Balance recorded a surplus of US$2.11 billion during Fiscal year 2024-25, a complete turn around as compared to a deficit of US$2.07 billion during the previous fiscal year
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jul, 2025) Pakistan’s External Current Account Balance recorded a surplus of US$2.11 billion during Fiscal year 2024-25, a complete turn around as compared to a deficit of US$2.07 billion during the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the Current Account for the month of June 2025 recorded a surplus of $ 328 million in comparison to a deficit of $ 84 million in May 2025 and a deficit of $ 500 million in June 2024, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported on Friday.
The cumulative balance in trade of goods during July to June 2024-25, according to the provisional figures released by the central bank, recorded a deficit of $ 26.781 billion as compared to $ 22.177 billion deficit in FY 23-24. The balance on Trade in goods during June 2025 was recorded as $ 2.384 billion as compared to a deficit of $ 3.038 billion in May 2025 and $ 2.195 billion in June 2024, the data depicted.
Balance on trade of services in the FY 24-25 has recorded a deficit of $ 2.620 billion as compared to $ 3.110 billion deficit of FY 23-24, the data shown adding that in June 2025 services’ trade deficit was recorded as $ 126 million as compared to $ 139 million deficit in May 25 and $ 477 million deficit during June 2024.
The overall trade deficit in both goods and services was recorded as $ 29.401 billion during July 24 to June 25 in comparison to the deficit of $ 22.615 billion in the previous fiscal year. In the month of June, the overall deficit in trade of goods and services was recorded as $ 2.510 billion as compared to the deficit of $ 3.177 billion in May 25 and the deficit of $ 2.672 billion during June 24.
The Balance on Primary Income recorded a deficit of $ 8.902 billion during July-June 2024-25 against a deficit of $ 8.986 billion in the last fiscal year, the SBP data showed. The yearly inflow of workers’ remittances during FY 2024-25, has recorded as $ 38.3 billion in comparison to $ 30.251 billion inflows of the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the Balance on Secondary Income during FY 24-25 was recorded as $ 40.409 billion against $ 32.201 billion in the previous fiscal year, the SBP data showed.
