
Arrangements Finalised To Deal With Flooding Situation: Commissioner

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jul, 2025) In line with the instructions of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the divisional administration has finalised all arrangements to deal with possible flooding situations in the division.
Commissioner Maryam Khan visited ‘Trimmu Headworks’ to review the safety measures and flood water situation on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Jhang Ali Akbar Bhinder, DPO Bilal Iftikhar Kiani, other district and irrigation department officers were also accompanied.
The commissioner was briefed about the current water situation in the Jhelum River, Trimmu Head and villages likely to be affected by high, medium and low level floods. The commissioner also visited the SCADA control room set up at Trimmu Headworks and took a briefing regarding digital monitoring.
Maryam Khan also inspected the breaching section on the protective embankment adjacent to Head.
She also visited Dhabi Balochan, a village near Tehsil Athara Hazari located on the embankment of the Jhelum River.
The Commissioner also met the residents of the ‘bat areas’ and instructed them to adopt safety measures.
The commissioner said that the Punjab government has formulated a relief plan regarding the monsoon rains.
She instructed that the people living in ‘bat areas’ should be immediately shifted to safe places.
She further said that necessary directions have also been given to the administration of all four districts to deal with urban flooding during the rains.
