Experts urges utilization of alternative environment  humanitarian sources  to face eco challenges

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2025) Human rights activists, environment and agricultural sector experts have urged that in order to face the environmental changes and fulfill energy needs through coal, LNG and oil, alternative environment and humanitarian sources should be utilized

Speaking at a session organized by the human rights organization HRCP in a local hotel in Hyderabad under the title "Survival of Environment, Welfare of Sindh" experts demanded that throwing garbage in the sea, river, canals and tributaries should be stop the flow of sewage, restore the natural flow of water in the Indus River by closing the water blocking chain .

According to the resolution, the required amount of water should be released, the forests should be increased by ensuring the protection of Tamar forests, the environment-friendly residential schemes like Bahria Town should be stopped and the process of giving agricultural land for residential and corporate projects should also be stopped.

On this occasion HRCP Sindh vice chairperson Qazi Khizr said that there is a big problem in the environment of Sindh due to anti-environment projects.

There is a need to raise voice to stop anti-environmental and anti-human plans.

He said that climate change is increasing rapidly all over the world, our country has no involvement in it, but the damage is being done, Pakistan is among the 10 countries in the world where disasters are caused due to climate change.

He said that the government should give priority to climate change and go to alternative sources of energy.

Social leader Saeed Baloch said that today there is talk of environmental justice in the whole world, environment in Sindh too

We are demanding justice, the world is getting rid of projects to generate electricity from coal, LNG and oil, but we are still behind these projects.

He said that 90% of the drinking water in Sindh is bad, we are forced to drink water from simple sewers in the cities, the sea, rivers and canals have been polluted, the government should show seriousness to prevent environmental degradation.

Senior journalist Sohail Sangi said that the people of Sindh have struggled for the river, the nature of Thar, the mountains and the sea.

Professor Ismail Kanbar, an agricultural expert and environmental researcher, gave a presentation on environmental changes and said that the environment of Sindh is the river, delta and Tamar forests.

He said that Sindh suffers from both floods and droughts, big housing schemes like Bahria Town are harmful to the environment of Sindh.
