Key Objective Of Establishing University Is To Produce Modern Knowledge-based Research: Governor

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2025) Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Monday said that the main objective of establishing any university is to produce modern knowledge-based research, there is a need to take concrete steps to allocate funds for research and utilize the already allocated funds properly.

He expressed these views while presiding over the fifth Senate meeting of Bolan Medical University of Health Sciences.

On this occasion, Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Justice Amir Rana of the Balochistan High Court, Vice Chancellor of Bolan Medical University Dr Shabbir Ahmed Lehri, Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan Kaleemullah Babar, Representative of Higher Education Dr Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, Bashir Ahmed Kakar of the Finance Department and Abdul Malik Achakzai of the Education Department, along with all the Senate members were present.

The Governor said that investment in higher education could certainly emerge as a cornerstone for development, stability and prosperity.

He said that by giving it top priority, we must equip our youth with modern knowledge, professional skills and competencies so that they would compete internationally and make a meaningful contribution to our society.

He said that to ensure the effectiveness and transparency of all public sector universities in the province, we are making external audit mandatory, as external check is an important mechanism to guarantee accountability, financial integrity and best use of resources within the universities.

“To maintain institutional strength and ensure continuous improvement, every government university will be obliged to hold a Senate meeting every six months”, he said.

He said that step would protect the interests of our students, faculty and the wider community and ensure that our institutions work with the highest standards.

Governor Mandokhel said that timely holding of Senate and syndicate meetings would have a positive and constructive impact on all the affairs and affairs of the university.

He said that here, on behalf of the Chancellor’s Office, we regularly facilitate meetings, promote strategic planning and enable universities to address the challenges.

With the decisions taken under the Senate meetings, we can further improve the educational landscape of Balochistan. The gathering of knowledge will not only raise the quality of education but also increase accountability and ultimately advance the socio-economic development of our province, he noted.

Several important decisions have also been taken in the light of the recommendations and suggestions of the participants of the 5th Senate meeting of Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences.
