Police Intensifies Crackdown On Metallic Kite Strings, Kite Flying

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2025) A province-wide police crackdown is underway against manufacturing, sale, and use of metallic kite strings and the violation of the Anti-Kite Flying Act.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, a total of 4,495 individuals have been arrested across the province this year for violations of the act. Police have registered 4,521 FIRs, recovered 481,460 kites, and seized 18,453 spools of string. Challans for 3,985 cases have already been submitted to the courts.

In Lahore alone, 1,272 suspects have been arrested and 1,241 FIRs registered. Police have also seized 28,341 kites and 1,430 spools of string from various localities in the city.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has issued strict instructions to all RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs to intensify the crackdown and ensure rigid enforcement of the amended Anti-Kite Flying Act. He emphasized that this life-threatening activity will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and that a zero-tolerance policy must be applied across the board. He further directed that action be taken against those involved in the online sale of kites and metallic string. The IG urged parents to discourage their children from engaging in kite flying and appealed to the public to play their role by reporting violations via Police Helpline 15.
