Senate Urges Swift Action Against Rising Drug Use In Educational Institutions

The Senate on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against the alarming rise in drug use among students, urging the government to adopt immediate and concrete measures to eliminate this menace from schools, colleges, and universities across the country

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) The Senate on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against the alarming rise in drug use among students, urging the government to adopt immediate and concrete measures to eliminate this menace from schools, colleges, and universities across the country.

The resolution was jointly moved by Leader of the Opposition Syed Shibli Faraz, along with Senators Mohsin Aziz, Aon Abbas, Dost Muhammad Khan, and Falak Naz.

It highlighted the serious threat posed by drug abuse to the physical and mental health of students, and warned of its long-term implications on the moral and social fabric of the youth.

The resolution stated, "the alarming increase in the use of drugs among students in schools and colleges poses a serious threat to the physical and mental well-being of our youth;

The youth represent the future of our nation and the growing trend of drug use is pushing them towards moral and social destruction;

Senate of Pakistan resolves that the Government must urgently implement decisive measures to prevent and combat drug proliferation in educational institutions.

The Senate of Pakistan also urges the Government to coordinate with the Provincial Governments and make a comprehensive national strategy to eliminate usage of drugs from academic institutions.
