The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has shot down six combat drones belonging to the Kiev forces at the line of contact in Donbas over the past month, Eduard Basurin, the deputy commander of the DPR Operational Command, said Friday.
"Over the current month, six unmanned aerial vehicles of the opponent were brought down by the DPR air defense force," Basurin said.
He also noted that over the past week, the Kiev forces tried to use a strike drone in residential areas of the settlement of Panteleymonivka.
The conflict in Donbas started in 2014, when Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, which refused to recognize the new government in Kiev that came to power after what they considered to be a coup. In 2015, a ceasefire agreement brokered by the leaders of the Normandy Four group France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine was reached in Minsk, but the situation has remained tense.
