"Today, the Council appointed Susanna Terstal as EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process," the statement read.
Terstal will be tasked to contribute to the effort for the final, two-state solution-based, settlement to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
"Ms. Terstal will take up her duties immediately and has initially been appointed until 29 February 2020," the Council added.
