First Steps To Set Up CSTO Humanitarian Mission In Syria Already Taken - Lavrov

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 09th December, 2018) The initial measures on launching a humanitarian mission in Syria under the aegis of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have already been taken, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Sunday.

"In Syria, we would like to set up a CSTO humanitarian mission. The first steps are already taken," Lavrov told the Kazakh Khabar news agency.

Russia and Armenia had recently worked out a joint operation to deliver Armenian humanitarian cargo to Syria using Russian planes, the minister specified, adding that talks on cooperation with other CSTO states in the matter were underway.

"When we work together to solve humanitarian issues not only around us, in our region, but also in other parts of the world ... our common authority, reputation of our organization and each of its members only benefit," the minister said.
