UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert's appointment as the new US ambassador to the United Nations, Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Friday.
"The Secretary-General very much looks forward to working with Miss Nauert when she assumes her post and continuing the very productive and strong working relationship he enjoyed with Ambassador (Nikki) Haley," Dujarric said.
US President Donald Trump announced earlier in the day at the White House that he has selected Nauert to replace Haley, who will step down from her post at the end of this year.
Before being appointed to her position at the State Department, Nauert worked as a correspondent for ABC News and a news presenter on a Fox News show.
