Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Friday that he expected practical steps from nuclear deal partners to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th May, 2019) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Friday that he expected practical steps from nuclear deal partners to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
"It's up to the international community to rescue the nuclear deal. If the international community sees the JCPOA as an important achievement it should take practical steps to save it, like Iran does," he said on Telegram.
Zarif has arrived in Beijing for what he describes as "close consultations" with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The Iranian diplomat slammed nuclear deal partners for playing lip service to the landmark 2015 deal, instead of making efforts to improve economic ties with Tehran.
Iran gave nuclear deal signatories - France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, China and the European Union - an ultimatum on May 8, saying it would step up uranium enrichment in 60 days if they did not shield Tehran from sanctions imposed by the United States after Washington quit the pact last year.
