RIGA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis will void nomination of conservative leader Janis Bordans for the prime minister after his failed bid to form a coalition government, a spokesman for the president's office said.
"Vejonis will sign a directive on Thursday that will void his invitation for Bordans to form a cabinet of ministers," the spokesman told reporters in Riga.
Bordans of the New Conservative Party has until November 21 to form a new government but his efforts appeared doomed after three major parties refused to negotiate.
He needed support of the Development/For, the New Unity, the National Alliance, and the KPV.LV parties in order to govern. All but the KPV.LV pulled out of talks on Wednesday.
Latvians elected members to the parliament in the October 6 ballot. It was won by pro-Russia Harmony party with 20 percent of votes. The KPV.LV was again the only party that agreed to coalition talks.
