MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th April, 2019) Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said in a statement on Saturday that two male teenagers had been arrested in connection with the killing of journalist Lyra McKee during rioting in the city of Londonderry.
McKee, 29, was shot dead on Thursday in what police described as a "terrorist incident." The police also said the Irish Republican Army, a republican revolutionary paramilitary organization, was most likely to be responsible for the attack.
"Major Investigation Team detectives have arrested two men, aged 18 and 19 under the Terrorism Act, in connection with the murder of Lyra McKee in the Creggan area of Derry on Thursday, 18th April.
They have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite," the statement on PSNI's official Twitter page read.
On Friday, the International Federation of Journalists and the European Federation of Journalists condemned the killing of the freelance journalist and called for a full investigation into her death.
