MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th April, 2019) The Philippines is interested in developing defense cooperation with Iran, one of the "non-traditional friends" of the country, Philippine Undersecretary of National Defense Cardozo M. Luna told Sputnik in an interview.

"I will be meeting tomorrow [on Wednesday] the vice minister of Iran, Vietnam and Myanmar, they are all here,� bilateral ...

We are keen of developing our relationships with the side mentioned before, the non-traditional friends of the Philippines. Iran is one of them," the undersecretary said.

He added that the relationship with Iran was "just starting."

"Earlier this year, we sent a delegation to Iran to look into their defense capability and their defense industry," Luna said.

The undersecretary is attending the Moscow Conference on International Security. The three-day event will be held in the Russian capital through Thursday.
