Pompeo, French Foreign Minister Discuss NATO Issues, Syria, Iran, North Korea - Statement

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th November, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed the issues related to the boost of NATO as well as the situation in Iran, North Korea and Syria, the US Department of State said in a statement.

On Saturday, Pompeo arrived in Paris accompanying US President Donald Trump, who will take part in the festive ceremonies, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

"They [Pompeo and Le Drian] discussed US-French cooperation on resolving global security challenges, including how to strengthen NATO.

They also reviewed ways the United States and France can work together to counter Iran's malign behavior, denuclearize the DPRK, and push for a political solution to the crisis in Syria," the statement, issued on late Saturday, said.

Over 60 heads of state and government will gather in Paris on Sunday for a military parade and a peace forum organized by French President Emmanuel Macron. On Saturday US President Trump has already held bilateral talks with Macron, with the leaders having focused on a number of trade and security issues.
