Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Austrian counterpart Karin Kneissl signed on Tuesday a statement on the establishment of the Russian-Austrian Sochi Dialogue public forum
The signing ceremony took place at the Russian Foreign Ministry's Reception House in Moscow.
Earlier in the day, Kneissl said that the new format would focus on economic and cultural cooperation, as well as collaboration between civic organizations.
"Within the framework of a forum co-chaired by representatives of Russia and Austria (one on each side), first, a Coordinating Committee will be set up that will include up to 10 well-known public figures from both sides.
The Coordinating Committee will develop a program of joint events focused on music, arts and culture; cooperation between universities, science and research; the economy; sport," the joint statement read.
In late October, Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinskiy told Sputnik that the first meeting of the forum would take place in Sochi in 2019.
