Sudan's military council chief on Tuesday appointed Gen. Mortadha Abdullah Warraq as the new governor of the state of Khartoum and the nation's capital of the same name, local media reported
Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan also dismissed Mohammed Hatem Suleiman from the post of director general with the Sudanese broadcasting authority, the state news agency SUNA said.
Burhan was sworn in last Friday to oversee the country's transition to civilian rule, a day after the military toppled and jailed the country's longtime leader, Omar Bashir. He promised the council would stay in power for only two years.
