The United Nations is demanding that militants who killed an International Red Cross worker held hostage in northeastern Nigeria be captured and punished, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters on Tuesday.
WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) The United Nations is demanding that militants who killed an International Red Cross worker held hostage in northeastern Nigeria be captured and punished, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters on Tuesday.
"Those responsible for the killing must be brought to justice," Dujarric said.
"The secretary-general expresses his concern for the safety and well-being of the remaining hostages and calls for their immediate release."
According to the Red Cross, the Islamist terror group Boko Haram kidnapped Liman in March along with her colleague Saifura Hussaini Ahmed Khorsa, and Alice Loksha, who worked as a nurse at a UNICEF-supported center.
The Red Cross said Khorsa was killed in September.
Boko Haram been waging a campaign of murder and kidnapping in northeastern Nigeria for nearly a decade.
