Polio Vaccination Card Made Mandatory by NADRA: New Travel Advisory

It is now mandatory for travelers from international airports in Pakistan to possess their updated polio vaccination cards, or else they can't commence their journey abroad. This restriction is imposed in response to international restrictions imposed on Pakistan aiming for polio eradication.

The government of Pakistan imposed a new travel advisory that made polio vaccination certificates/cards mandatory for travelers abroad. NADRA instructed airlines operating international routes to check polio vaccination for international travel from Pakistan.

The previous polio vaccination cards are now expired, and it is now mandatory for international travelers to have a vaccination card for polio.

Who Must Have Polio Vaccination Card?

Besides Pakistani residents, polio vaccination cards are also mandatory for long-term visitors, i.e., people present in Pakistan for more than four weeks.

It is required for every international traveler to keep Polio Vaccination Card irrespective of their age group.

International travelers can get vaccinated in the following two ways.

Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine - IPV

People traveling abroad are directed to get the polio vaccine within four weeks before leaving the country and receiving the certificate.

How to Get Polio Vaccination Certificate?

People traveling abroad can get a polio vaccine certificate for international travel at https://nims.nadra.gov.pk/.

Firstly, look for the polio vaccination center near me and get vaccinated. Your vaccination will be registered with your CNIC at the vaccination center. After that, go to the National Immunization Management System's website and provide the required information, i.e., CNIC number.

Now select the vaccine for which you want to download the vaccination certificate.

The government of Pakistan charges a fee of Rs. 100 to download the Polio Vaccination Certificate from NIMS website.

After you fill in the details and pay the fee, you can download the NADRA vaccination certificate for polio or apply for the polio vaccination card, you can show both of them alternatively.
