MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 28th March, 2019) A high-class cabriolet version of the Russian-made Aurus limousine is expected to be showcased during the 2019 edition of the Victory Day Parade, which will be held on May 9 on the Red Square in downtown Moscow, a source in the Russian automotive industry told Sputnik on Thursday.
Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said last August that the Kortezh project convertible, designed for the annual Victory Parade, which celebrates the anniversary of the end of World War II, could be presented in 2019 or 2020.
"Yes, there are such plans, and the car is currently being prepared," the source said.
Meanwhile, Aurus' manufacturer, the Central Scientific Research automobile and Automotive Engines Institute, declined to provide a comment to Sputnik.
The Kortezh project envisions the creation of luxury cars for top state officials. Russian President Vladimir Putin became the first owner of a Kortezh car, which was used during his inauguration ceremony last May.
