Afghan Forces Kill 16 Taliban Militants In Country's South - Reports

At least 16 militants of the Taliban movement were killed and 14 others injured in a clash with Afghan forces in southern Kandahar province, local media reported on Wednesday, citing provincial police chief.

The Taliban attacked a group of Afghan border forces late on Tuesday, according to the TOLOnews broadcaster.
Two Afghan soldiers were injured during the attack, the broadcaster specified.
Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable political, social and security situation due to simmering Taliban insurgency. The violence is exacerbated by the activities of various terrorist groups, including the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia).
