Death Toll From Bombings In Sri Lanka Raises To 290, Around 500 People Injured - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) The number of people killed in a series of deadly blasts that hit Sri Lanka on Sunday has risen to 290, local media reported on Monday, citing police.
Around 500 people have been injured, the news 1st broadcaster added.
As many as 24 people have been detained in connection with the deadly blasts, the News 1st reported, citing a representative of the local police. They are reportedly being held in the police's department of criminal prosecution.
The broadcaster said earlier in the day that the curfew, which the Sri Lankan government had declared soon after the explosions, would be canceled at 6 a.
m. (00:30 GMT) local time on Monday.
Eight explosions took place in Sri Lanka on the Easter Sunday, with three churches and three hotels having been targeted. Citizens of Denmark, Japan, Pakistan, Morocco, India, Bangladesh, China, the Netherlands, the United States, Turkey and the United Kingdom were among the victims of the explosions, according to the recent data. The Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka said on Sunday that no Russian citizens had been among those killed and injured.
