MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) Russia's Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, suggested that the collapse of the Russian-US Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty would harm the security of European countries.

"The security of European countries will be the first to suffer due to the collapse of this treaty if, God forbid, some wise heads decide to invite US colleagues to the European continent," Antonov told Russia's Channel One on Wednesday.

On February 2, the United States formally suspended its obligations under the INF Treaty and launched the withdrawal process, which would be completed within six months unless Moscow remedies its alleged violations of the bilateral arms control deal.

Moscow has repeatedly said that it is not violating the INF Treaty.

On February 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow also suspended its obligations under the treaty in response to the US move.
