The visit of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh to Russia will take place in April or May, Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook, the deputy chief of the Hamas Political Bureau, told Sputnik on Monday
It was initially planned that Haniyeh would visit Moscow on January 15 to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and discuss the intra-Palestinian reconciliation. However, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal said on January 10 that the visit had been postponed, adding that the new date for Haniyeh's travel to Russia would be announced later.
"[Hamas] told me directly [that the visit of Haniyeh would take place] in April or May," Abu Marzook said.
He noted that there was no concrete date for the visit so far.
"There is no certain date because [Haniyeh] should look for his agenda at that time to choose which exact date it is going to be. They are going to tell us about the exact date," Abu Marzook said.
