SINGAPORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2018 ) :As Chinese New Year is approaching, travellers to Singapore are reminded not to bring in 'Bak Kwa' or the Chinese sweet meat jerky from Malaysia.

Malaysia is not an approved country for the import of meat products to the republic, according to the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Bernama reported Thursday.

Currently, Singapore has approved 21 countries, including Canada, Netherlands and the United States, for the import of pork and pork products to the country.

Since Feb 8, ICA officers at the Woodlands checkpoint have detected four cases of 'Bak Kwa' which were concealed in cookie and snack packaging. The packets of 'Bak Kwa' were disposed of.
