Roscomos Chief Rogozin Denies Possibility Of OneWeb Contract Termination

Director General of Russia's State Corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin denied on Monday the possibility of termination of the contract on OneWeb satellite launches.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th November, 2018) Director General of Russia's State Corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin denied on Monday the possibility of termination of the contract on OneWeb satellite launches.

"No, no," Rogozin said in response to the relevant question by journalists during a press conference held at the Rossiya Segodnya news agency media center.

Reuters reported earlier that Russia's state security agency FSB was opposing the Russian deal with US company OneWeb to bring satellite-based internet access to remote parts of the country because it could allegedly be used to gather intelligence and damage national security.

"We are ready to launch these satellites, and I have sent the Roscosmos opinion on this subject to the government," Rogozin stressed, adding that this contract is extremely important for Russian space industry.

"I believe that we could get an additional [launch] contract for Protons," Roscosmos chief said.
