Russian Navy to Receive New Steregushchiy-Class Corvette on December 25-26 in Vladivostok

Russia's new Steregushchiy-class (Project 20380) corvette Gromkiy will be transferred to the Russian Navy on December 25-26 in Vladivostok, a spokesperson for the Amur shipyard told Sputnik on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) Russia's new Steregushchiy-class (Project 20380) corvette Gromkiy will be transferred to the Russian Navy on December 25-26 in Vladivostok, a spokesperson for the Amur shipyard told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"The transfer of Gromkiy corvette to the Russian Navy with commissioning with the Pacific Fleet is slated for December 25-26.

On this day, the commander-in-chief will read out the order and the flag will be hoisted, which will mean the transfer of the ship to the fleet," the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, earlier in the day, Russian Navy and Amur shipyard representatives signed the ship acceptance and transfer certificate.

Gromkiy is the second corvette of the Project 20380 vessels that will be used for maritime patrols. Ships of this project were developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau for operations in the near-shore zone and to fight with enemy ships and submarines.
