Armenian President Armen Sarkissian told Sputnik the country's snap parliamentary elections might take place in December.
GENEVA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd October, 2018) Armenian President Armen Sarkissian told Sputnik the country's snap parliamentary elections might take place in December.
Last week, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced his resignation in what he described as a move to create a formal reason for the dissolution of the current parliament and to pave the way for early parliamentary elections in the country.
"The prime minister has resigned. Now the parliament will discuss [the date for the vote]. At the moment, all forecasts say that the parliamentary elections will be held in the near future, in December," Sarkissian said on the sidelines of the 10th World Investment Forum in Geneva.
The president stressed that the results of the early elections would not affect relations between Armenia and Russia.
"I am sure that relations between Armenia and Russia, relations between the people of the Republic of Armenia, in general, between all Armenians and Russia, its people are an invariant that does not change as time goes by. It historically remains unchanged not for one or two years, but for hundreds of years. And will not change," Sarkissian said.
