Around 1,500 journalists from the Baltic States and the Commonwealth of Independent Nations (CIS) have participated in the SputnikPro educational project since it was launched a year ago, Sputnik and RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan said on Tuesday
SputnikPro is an international project for journalists, students and press service professionals, designed to exchange expertise with foreign colleagues, develop international media communications and intercultural ties. The project was launched by the Sputnik International News Agency and Radio.
"Exactly a year ago - although it is not our responsibility, but we thought we should do it - we launched the SputnikPro educational project. This is a school and workshops for local journalists, for press secretaries and in general for all those associated with media in these countries. This is the first post-Soviet and the only Russian program of this magnitude specifically designed for media in the post-Soviet space.
More than 1,500 people have taken part in 30 programs over the year," Simonyan said at a session of the Russian lower house Committee on Informational Policy, Technologies and Communications.
The Sputnik news agency has also managed to get the top spot in terms of audience in Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan as well as Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Sputnik editor-in-chief noted.
Sputnik is one of the largest international media companies offering country-specific and regional multimedia websites in over 30 languages, analog and digital radio broadcasting in Russian, English and French in 130 cities and online. Sputnik newsfeeds deliver 24/7 content to leading international media around the world in English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese and Farsi. Sputnik websites get more than 50 million visitors a month. Sputnik operates 22 bureaus across the world employing more than 1,000 people from dozens of countries.
