St. Petersburg, Singapore To Cooperate In Economy, Science, Social Sector - Statement

The authorities of Russia's St. Petersburg and Singapore signed an agreement on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and social spheres, the St. Petersburg administration said Wednesday in a statement.
"The agreement stipulates the intention of the sides to promote expansion and strengthening of bilateral relations, effective use of the existing trade, economic, scientific and technical potential, implementation of economic and social development projects in St. Petersburg and the Republic of Singapore," the statement reads.
It is also planned to cooperate in creating an intelligent transportation system of St. Petersburg, aimed at improving the quality of passenger traffic with the use of modern information technology and GLONASS system.
"The government of St. Petersburg has been studying the Singapore experience of transport planning since 2017. Today, Singapore is a world leader in the efficient management of the transport system," City Deputy Governor Igor Albin said as quoted in the statement.
St. Petersburg and Singapore also plan to develop cooperation in urban planning and architecture, science and technology as well as between educational organizations in the field of using information technology in the educational process. Exchange of experience between St. Petersburg and Singapore healthcare institutions, as well as expansion of cooperation in transport infrastructure and energy are also intended.
