UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has not changed his position on the status of the Golan Heights after US President Donald Trump recognized Israel's sovereignty over that territory, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said in a press briefing on Monday
"The Secretary-General's position has remained unchanged from last week to today, and for him, for the Secretary-General, it is clear that the status of the Golan Heights has not changed. The United Nations' policy on the Golan Heights is reflected in the relevant resolutions of the [UN] Security Council," Dujarric told reporters. "The status of the occupied Golan is enshrined in the Security Council's resolutions."
Earlier on Monday, Trump signed a presidential proclamation formally recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
