WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) The United States hopes to see concrete steps towards the denuclearization of North Korea as a result of the third inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a press briefing on Tuesday.
"In terms of what we hope to come out of the summit, we hope to see a meaningful, verifiable steps toward denuclearization of North Korea," Nauert told reporters.
She added the United States would continue to hold close consultations with South Korea along the process.
The spokeswoman stressed the third summit represents a unique chance for Chairman Kim Jong Un to deliver on the promises he made during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Singapore on June 12.
Earlier in the day, the South Korean delegation, comprising 150 people and headed by President Moon Jae-in, arrived in North Korea's capital. Kim, in turn, vowed to make every possible effort to boost aspirations for reconciliation and solidarity between Pyongyang and Seoul.
