Washington, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jul, 2018 ) :The US intelligence judgment that Russia meddled in the 2016 election is "clear," Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said Monday after President Donald Trump refused to endorse his conclusions.
"We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy," Coats said in a statement.
Trump stunned US political and intelligence officials when he refused to acknowledge or condemn Moscow's interference in the election while standing next to President Vladimir Putin at a press conference in Helsinki, Finland.
Despite Trump's stance, Coats said the US intelligence community "will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security."
